1200 a day, plus your services? How much total for camera and man? I haven't read your entire ad/blog. Did you mention anything about how difficult editing might be, or are you set up for this as well? I'll bet you probably are.

You sound experienced in more than a 'give it a try' way, which is great. I am a small time writer, who may want to make into movies some of his projects, better than I did when I was 12. I've been writing since I was seven; writing my first serious piece at age eight. Is Red One easy to operate? How much do you require for insurance coverage? Are any current movies out that have used this camera? What do you think about the new Colorspace Redspace? Which is easier to???

A forum is a great idea. Maybe an email discussion list would get more use.

I go to the COW for tech stuff (seems to be the largest pool) but for anything that's specifically local, such as gigs, meetups, equipment sales, etc - I'd think it would be a good idea.

I'd like a forum but if we have one we NEED the ability to post attachments (~4mb limit?) so we can show examples and highlight problems.

That's what apple's site lacks.

Intrigue:
To answer your first question, "Who is at the show?" Well, I guess you missed the June meeting of DCFCPUG since two of our members won exclusive tickets to this sold out event in San Francisco last week!

Our lucky winners who are members of DCFCPUG are:

Mike Greenberg of Konspiracy Studios
Ben Aein of Redlightningsoftware.com

As DCFCPUG members, you never know who you might run into? ;-)

We look forward to your contributions to our users group in the future.

I was wondering that too! That would be a great coup to get Al to join the group. I mean, he's spent plenty of time in DC, and we know he is handy with the video presentations (see "Inconvenient Truth").

Thanks for the great tip. I still haven't made the move from mini-DV to solid state, but it is inevitable for me (and everyone?)

While shooting with the EX1, card crossing will usually occur. If you have a chance to slot select before a card cross, it will make the import process much cleaner and easier. If you have a continuous shot that splashes data on multiple cards your result is a split clip within XDCAM Transfer. You will need to place an out point on the data from the first card and an in point on the continuing data on the second card. From here you can import the clips and patch together. Just a suggestion, keep and eye on your minutes of usage per card and be wary when the slot select warning comes on... for long interviews you may not have a choice, but something to keep in mind on the back end. Cheers
