At an event introducing the new Epic sensor, RED executives announced that the company had purchased Ren Mar Studios, on Cahuenga in Hollywood.
...now RED Studios Hollywood
The name will be changed to RED Studios Hollywood. According to REDuser.net they are keeping their Orange County location and still building the Nevada location. Ren Mar Studios, an historic lot that was formerly Desilu Cahuenga, features five remodeled stages with air conditioning, TV production facilities, production offices with broadband access, rehearsal studios, 24/7 lighting and grip supply shop and 24 hour security. No more information is available from RED at this time as to what they plan for the new RED Studios in Hollywood.
According to the Ren Mar website, productions that shot at the Desilu Cahuenga Studios included I Love Lucy, The Jack Benny Show, I Spy, Hogan’s Heroes and The Dick Van Dyke Show. The studio has been independently owned and operated since 1974.

We just got a terrific surprise at the Engadget CES trailer: Ted Schilowitz from RED popped in with a RED Scarlet and the Bomb EVF for a quick hands-on!
Our video producer Chad Mumm basically attacked him, as did the rest of the crew — pretty much everyone surrounded him as he pulled the Scarlet out of its pack. Chad actually shot video and did a little interview — we’ll get that up ASAP, but check out the pics in the gallery below.
It started with the RED 18-85 mm T zoom. RED Professional series lenses and accessories should begin rolling out in force the next few months in support of the RED ONE and in anticipation of Scarlet & EPIC.
Jarred will post a pic of the Prime lens set (1st). These are incredible. The bench testing is beyond our widest dreams. As you know, we have lots of lenses here for testing. These new primes outperform them all… especially wide open… and it isn’t close.
Matt is developing an all new accessory program that is equally incredible. “Everything will be machined and incorporates all we have learned over the past couple of years getting our feet wet in this industry”. If it says “Pro” on the box, it is.
So what is “Pro”?
1. All newly designed, machined accessories, including new base plates (15 mm, 15 mm offset and 19 mm), top and bottom mounts, BombEVF, dovetails, etc.
