  • Amazing night at the GVEXPO last night!

Yesterday during the first day of the Exhibits grand opening, I found it interesting that the presentation screens in the Expo had charts showing in the classrooms with the logos of DCFCPUG and AVID users as opposing (dueling) entities. Example of one I saw said: DCFCPUG vs DC AVID as if we were two boxers in a ring battling for the title.

As I see it, all of the editing and creative tools are battling for the hearts and mind of the creative community and on any given day, one tool works better for the task than others. We are all about building a relationship with the tool providers so that WE chose the best tools to solve the storytellers task at hand. Whatever tools (hardware or software), we work to get that knowledge exposed to our community. I’ll leave it for you to decide who wins the battle….but for those that attend…. it sure looked like a KNOCK OUT! ;-)

For those that missed it, the DCFCPUG shattered all previous attendance records with FOUR TIMES the attendance than the adjacent AVID Users Group meeting last night. AJA and the supporting sponsors (G-Tech, Automatic Duck, Pond 5 (new), FMC, Digital Production BuZZ, AEDC, DCDSLR, etc) did an amazing job of showing community support and demonstrated that the YES WE CAN motto of our President is alive and well with our group.

I appreciate all of the hard work we all put into organizing and executing the plan to culminate 12 months of work into this special event at the EXPO. We made an impression that will last and a new bar has been raised.

Stick with us in 2011 and help us make more waves despite how the “Tools War” is taking the debate.
At the end of the day, YOU have a story to tell and WE collectively will be there to help you get the job done.

More to follow in future post, but I wanted to get this out before my UNITED flight in two hours… ;-)

    Respectfully,

    Rodney Mitchell
    President, DCFCPUG
