Featuring DCFCPUG Leader - Rodney Mitchell this month on the BuZZ!!

Happy Holidays to the Washington DC Metro Family! Today we go international with our first global radio interview on the Digital Production BuZZ! The BuZZ is hosted by the internationally famous, Larry Jordan. Here is a little insight into what my creative mission is all about:

    Leader

    INTERVIEW AUDIO:

As the Apple User Group Ambassador for the Washington DC metro area, Rodney has taken the reigns in 2010 as President of the Washington DC Metro Apple Final Cut Pro Users Group and has made a tremendous difference in the growth and diversity of what a user group can do in today’s fast paced, creative environment. In 2011, he is looking to expand into other creative edit and production activities to re-energized the Washington region to participate, learn, share and network with the greater network of creatives worldwide. As a true leader, he demonstrates his abilities by leading by example. Check out our reel page for a few examples!

The Washington DC Metro Final Cut Pro User Group (DCFCPUG) is an established community of Final Cut Pro enthusiasts, digital filmmakers and broadcast professionals sharing ideas and concerns encompassing the use of Final Cut Pro HD and related tools for digital cinema.

Officially recognized and listed by Apple as a regional member of the Final Cut Pro User Group Network, DCFCPUG provides both advocacy and education about Digital Filmmaking on the Mac and free membership opportunities for learning and professional growth in storytelling. DCFCPUG builds connections between storytellers who want to lead the Digital Filmmaking revolution. Bridging the gap between Apple, Adobe, Avid and Sony creative solutions to evolve and advance the art of storytelling. Product neutral, we use the best the industry can provide to tell that awesome story!

Larry Jordan is an internationally-renowned digital media consultant and Apple-Certified trainer with over 30 years experience as a television producer, director, and editor with national broadcast and corporate credits. Based on Los Angeles, he’s a member of both the Directors Guild of America and the Producers Guild of America. Jordan is the author of hundreds of hours of online training, and five books on Final Cut Pro, published by Peachpit Press and Focal Press.

    tribute

Be Thankful for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice!

This was a tribute to a couple of military servicemen who were KIA in October/Niovember 2010 [PFC Jordan Byrd and SSgt Jordan Emrick].  My esteemed friend (Grammy Winner) and Native American, Douglas Spotted Eagle (DSE for short) recently showed his respects in this way – beautiful!

This is for Jordan Byrd and Jordan Emrick, both KIA within a month of each other. Both very fine young men who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
This is also for all Native American veterans and servicemen and women. The smaller flag flown beneath the US Flag is flown in their honor.
    Thank you for your service.
If you know a veteran, or have served our country, leave a comment…

    vWave Lite

Control Apple Color from your iPad

    • vWave-Lite allows you to control Color as distributed in Apple’s Final Cut Studio suite of tools.
    • The three “virtual” trackerballs allow you to control the colour differential and masters in the Primary In, Secondaries and Primary Out rooms in Color, just like you would with our CP200 or Wave panels.
    • You can use vWave-Lite at the same time as your CP200 or Wave but you do not need either of these panels for it to work.
    • All the controls on vWave-Lite can be used simultaneously.
    • Connection to Color is via wireless network.
    • vWave-Lite is FREE to download and use from the Apple iTunes store!

Important: You will need the v3.8 or greater Tangent Color Support Package. Click here to download this.

    Requirements

    • Tangent Color Support Package v3.8 or greater which is FREE. Click here to download this.

Final Cut Pro – Toggling Display Modes

Here’s a quick way to toggle between display modes in either the Canvas or Viewer.

    Display

There are three display modes for both the Canvas and Viewer:

    • Image

    • Image + Wireframe

    • Wireframe

Image displays the image, but allows no effects adjustment; such as scaling.

Image+Wireframe both displays the image and the wireframe; it’s most often used when you want to create motion effects for a clip by adjusting the clip in the Canvas.

Wireframe displays your image as an object outline; the key benefit to Wireframe is that it always displays in real-time, no matter how complex your effects.
