    Tip of the Day!

Final Cut Pro – Syncing Audio to Video in Real-time

A very fast keyboard shortcut to sync audio to picture.

    TIp Jar

Want to sync your audio to video in real-time? Here’s how:

    1. Select the audio clip, or video, depending upon which is “dominant,” or which one is already in place.

    2. Select the Slip tool by pressing S.

    3. Mark an In and Out in the Timeline that includes a good sync point.

    4. Turn on View > Loop Playback by pressing Control+L.

    5. Press Shift+\ to activate “Play In to Out.” The selected range now loops while you adjust the position of the audio.

    6. Type < and > until the audio is in sync. Use Shift+< or Shift+> to slip five frames at a time.

This way is much easier and faster than trying to start-stop-start adjust your audio.

Final Cut Pro – Apply the Default Audio and Video Transition Simultaneously

Why do this twice, when you can do it all at once?

    update

With this simple trick, you can apply the default video and audio transition to a linked clip at the same time.

    1. Select the edit point.

    2. Control-click the edit point and select Apply Transition from the shortcut menu.

Ta-DAH! Both the audio and video default transitions are applied simultaneously!”
