    Cinemek Storyboard Composer

I am pleased to announce the addition of CINEMEK to the DC Final Cut Pro User Group family of sponsors. Last year, our members expressed an interest in using the storyboard composer. Stacy even bought it and swore by it’s utility in the field.

Storyboard Composer is the worlds first and only mobile story boarding application. Utilizing the iphone’s multi-touch capabilities it allows you to get your ideas out of your head and onto paper in a fast and efficient way. Stop scribbling and start shooting.

You will have your chance to participate in our DCFCPUG Winner’s Circle raffle to win a copy!

We will also be evaluating their cool, G35 Lens Adapter System with CINEmulsion. The Cinemek G35 is a step forward in lens adapter technology. It utilizes a focusing screen with a focusing structure so fine it cannot be resolved by an HD imaging sensor. This allows for a extremely durable next generation lens adapter. No need to turn it on or worry about it breaking down as it is completely sealed and hassle free. find out more about the G35 and how it can change the way you shoot.

At an event introducing the new Epic sensor, RED executives announced that the company had purchased Ren Mar Studios, on Cahuenga in Hollywood.

    ...now RED Studios Hollywood

The name will be changed to RED Studios Hollywood. According to REDuser.net they are keeping their Orange County location and still building the Nevada location. Ren Mar Studios, an historic lot that was formerly Desilu Cahuenga, features five remodeled stages with air conditioning, TV production facilities, production offices with broadband access, rehearsal studios, 24/7 lighting and grip supply shop and 24 hour security. No more information is available from RED at this time as to what they plan for the new RED Studios in Hollywood.

According to the Ren Mar website, productions that shot at the Desilu Cahuenga Studios included I Love Lucy, The Jack Benny Show, I Spy, Hogan’s Heroes and The Dick Van Dyke Show. The studio has been independently owned and operated since 1974.

Final Cut Pro – Modifying Audio Levels

Here are two quick ways to modify the audio levels of multiple clips.

Looking for a way to change the audio levels of more than one clip at once?
Here are two ways. The first uses a menu:

    • Select the audio clips who’s level you want to adjust.
    • Choose Modify > Level
    • Select Relative if you want to adjust the audio based upon the current audio levels of a clip. (I tend to use the Relative setting.)
    • Select Absolute if you want to set the level of all clips to the same setting, regardless of where the audio is set now.
    • Enter the amount you want to change the audio (negative numbers make sounds quieter, positive numbers make it louder).
    • Press OK.

    Or, using keyboard shortcuts:

    • To raise audio by 1 dB is Control+= (equals).
    • To lower audio by 1 dB is Control+- (minus).
