Final Cut Pro – Snapping Has Changed
Snapping’s behavior changed with FCP 6.0.2 and later. Here’s how.

Apple changed the behavior of snapping in Final Cut Pro version 6.0.2 and later.
If you change snapping without holding down the mouse button, everything works as normal.
However, if you are holding the mouse down when you type N snapping changes, but only temporarily. Once you let go of the mouse button, snapping reverts to the state it was in before you clicked the mouse.
Also new is that if you hold down the Option key while dragging, this will temporarily turn on snapping for as long as you hold the mouse button down.
